I decided to re-read The Catcher In The Rye last summer, having first read it when I was in my late teens or early 20s. I don't remember feeling at all connected to or empathic towards Holden the first time I read this book. His language didn't really make much sense to me and I couldn't understand his sense of isolation or descent into mental distress.

Fifteen or so years on and I can appreciate the subtleties and layers of character development within this book and read about what Holden goes through with far more sympathy and understanding.
I thought it'd be an interesting project to create a mock-up cover for the book.
